Millennials in Slums: Housing Career Approach Towards Livable Housing in Muja-Muju Urban Village, Yogyakarta City, Indonesia

Abstract The millennial generation (born 1982-2000) who currently dominates the population has a tendency to have diverse housing needs. However, unaffordability of can create problems, such as inadequate housing. This phenomenon occurs in slum area Muja-Muju Urban Village. Based on these this study aims determine preferences millennials Village towards livable through career approach. adopted quantitative method with frequency distribution and comparative descriptive analysis by comparing conditions based indicators also considered millenial preferences. Data was collected distributing questionnaires directly 109 respondents observation. results showed that pattern during life cycle tends stagnate. Besides, average existing land plots/buildings were only 37-48 m 2 43.2% exceeds standard residential capacity. There 55.6% chose live because its strategic location. Referring characteristics, cannot afford other areas which lead irregular buildings due high density. condition not been investigated previous studies, so are important for preventing return slums.
